Day 2: Fagernes to Molde

Distance: 400km
Weather: Cloudy, occasional drops of rain
Temperature: Pleasant, nice for non-roadsters

Daily report:

Although we had been promised excellent weather for the second day of the rally it never really materialised. The day started off cloudy, but with a fairly pleasant temperature, and at the end of the day it was much the same. Nice for driving in, but not the perfect weather for viewing the amazing nature.
The morning took us up into the mountains. The barren landscape made quite a contrast to the green paradise of Fagernes. Patches of snow and occasional sections with snow right down to the side of the road illustrated the differing altitudes the route covers.
The lakes on the mountain pass were still frozen after the winter. Hazards in the road included flocks of sheep and cows. Not even the howl of a rabid sportscar made these beasts get out of the way!
The nature inspired many of the teams to arrange imprompty photo sessions. Here are the XK120's of Haflinger and Kraus in splendid contrast to the frozen lake and the snowcovered mountains.
The near empty roads proved very tempting to the drivers, many who seldom find roads as drivable as these. High speeds were on the menu for most cars. Lom Stavkirke, one of only 28 remaining in Norway. Around 1000 years old. Beautiful!
